In SLMED, we independently develop and distribute dizziness inspection equipment. Because we felt the need for continuous research and development of dizziness inspection equipment incorporating the latest technology and product development, we established an affiliated research center. Due to the continuous increase of patients with dizziness, the range from neurology and otorhinolaryngology treatment to other departments is expanding, as well as the demand for the treatment. According to behavior statistics, the number of patients who visited the hospital due to dizziness in the last 5 years increased from 570,000 in 2009 to 710,000 in 2013, an increase of about 140,000.
In R & D center, we develop a vestibular function test tool and eye movement measurement device used to diagnose vestibular system abnormalities. The eye movement measurement device includes VOG (Video Oculogram), EOG (Electro Oculogram) and hardware such as optical stimulator, temperature stimulator, and rotating chair stimulator. Using the above mentioned devices, we analyze the measured data through eye movement test, caloric test, head position test, rotation test, dynamic posture test, head position conversion test, and head impulse test. Using these analysis, we develop a program that can detect vestibular function abnormalities.
Hardware: Development of a device that can be worn on patients by integrating imaging devices (cameras) and sensors (acceleration sensors, gyro sensors)
Software: Develop a program that integrates image processing, signal processing and hardware and provides a user interface to store, reproduce and provide measured test results to users
Image processing: Analyze the eyeball image of the subject photographed in real time to measure the eyeball rotation angle, rotation angular velocity, pupil size and torsion in real time
Signal processing: Analyze the measured eye data and stimulation signals to determine the reliability of the measured data and whether the subject is normal
